Gemma’s course seemed like a good opportunity to try something new; I had long adored watching ballroom dancing and had always longed to try it myself but I lacked the confidence. Something about Gemma’s course and her website gave me the inspiration to give it a go and I wasn’t disappointed.  I attended the classes without a partner which I worried might make me feel even more awkward than I did already, but you’re never alone for long, and it was lovely to meet and dance with new people.  It’s a fun way to try something that can increase your confidence, self-esteem and give you new skills to boot – it’s a win-win situation!  You get to use a different part of your brain, have fun and meet some lovely new people – Gemma included.  The classes are a little ray of sunshine in the working week.  I loved the sense of achievement at the end of each, and I’m delighted that took the chance and gave it a go!

About this course

During this fun Ballroom dancing course for beginners, you will learn basic steps in four Ballroom and four Latin dances.  In each class we’ll do a reminder of the previous dance learnt so that you will be able to remember the steps with confidence and recognise the different types of music each style is danced to.  By the end of each class you’ll be able to confidently dance each routine with style, all whilst learning in a fun, sociable environment!

On this course, you will learn:

  • Waltz
  • Foxtrot
  • Tango
  • Quickstep
  • Rumba
  • Cha-Cha-Cha
  • Samba
  • Jive

Lessons five and ten are re-cap classes.

This course is designed for those who have little or no dancing experience, so you don’t need to worry if it’s your first time as everyone will be in the same position!  It’s also ideal if you would like to learn the basics of social dancing, or are getting married later in the year.
