Types of data we collect

Mailing Lists

As part of the booking process for our classes, and the website e-mail list opt-in box, we collect personal information.

This includes:

  • your email address
  • your first and last name

This information is used for a couple of reasons; to keep you informed about classes you might be interested in; to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information (such as a change of venue of a class, or the contact details of someone you have booked a class on behalf of). In order to keep emails as relevant as possible, we will also hold simple data relating to which classes you have booked or enquired about, for example, group classes or wedding dance lessons. We don’t rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.

We use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our emails. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing Gemma Morton directly.

Email enquiries

If you choose to contact us via the online form on our website, we will receive the information you select to provide, which is limited to your name, email, telephone number and nature of your enquiry. You only need to provide one method of contacting you (either email or phone) in order for us to answer your query. Depending on the nature of your enquiry, we may ask you following this contact if you are happy to be added to our mailing list, from which you may unsubscribe at any time following the relevant links in the email. You will also follow a ‘double opt-in’ process to confirm you are happy to receive emails.

Booking classes

If you book a course or class through the website, via Paypal*, the information we collect will also include:

  • which course you booked

The information we receive via receipts from Paypal may include any information you have allowed Paypal to include, such as your home address. Please note that we do not store that information or use it for marketing. Information on receipts is used only to control class numbers and to maintain accounting records.

*Paypal also stores some additional information. Please see ‘Booking Data’ below.

Booking data

When you make a booking by using Paypal, your first and last name, email address, and details of which class you booked are automatically added to our mailing list, which is provided by MailChimp. This is to allow you to receive an automatic confirmation email containing important information about the classes, and to keep you updated about future classes that may be of interest to you. It also enables us to contact everyone in the event of a cancellation or change to the booking. You can unsubscribe from this at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails, or by emailing Gemma Morton directly. Paypal may also store additional information such as a transaction ID and the time and date of your booking. Please see Paypal’s Privacy Policy for full details.

This site, and some correspondence or marketing emails from us, may contain links to and from the websites of our sponsors. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies. Please check these policies before you submit any personal data to these websites.
